It has been another great year for the Aylsham Show.
All-day sunshine and an increased sale of advanced tickets ensured the annual August Bank Holiday event was as busy as ever with organisers, once again, welcoming record levels of visitors.
Show administrator David Hitcham was delighted with the 2017 event, describing this year as a “happy show”.
“There was lots of cheering for some of the displays and people seemed to stay longer, perhaps because of the great weather,” he said.
The organisers had been working hard to address issues with traffic and parking in a bid to tackle some of the queues at peak arrival and departure times.
David said: “We would like to thank the public for their patience in getting to the show in view of the difficult road conditions in Norfolk at this time, particularly the roadworks associated with the Northern Distributor Road.
“We have worked very hard this year to get people into the showground more efficiently and we are very grateful to our show team who did a great job this year.”
He also praised North Walsham Rugby Club volunteers who manned the car parks.
Organisers are still waiting to hear how much has been raised and how much can be awarded to charity for 2017 but are confident it will match last year’s donations.
David encouraged any groups or organisations to check out the show’s recently-updated website towards the end of the month for details of how to apply for grants.
With another show safely in the bag, work is now starting on the 2018 event.
